Commission wants lower CO2 emissions for new passenger cars and vans

The Commission has put forward a Clean Mobility package which includes new targets for CO2 emissions from cars and vans. Average CO2 emissions from new passenger cars and vans registered in the EU in 2025 will have to be 15% and in 2030 30% lower compared to 2021. Today, transport accounts for around a quarter of the EU’s greenhouse gas emission, with road transport alone responsible for 22%.
