Commissioner Hogan launches Smart Agri Hubs project

EU Agriculture and Rural Development Commissioner Phil Hogan was in Dublin earlier this week where he announced Waterford Institute of Technology (WIT) as Ireland/UK co-ordinator for the €20m EU-funded SmartAgriHubs project. Under the project, Waterford IT will act as a one-stop-shop for farmers and the agri-food industry to access agri tech research and supports. Commissioner Hogan said: “Agriculture needs to become smarter, leaner and cleaner, while maintaining our trademark EU commitment to high quality and safety standards. Projects like SmartAgriHubs will lead the way. I commend Waterford IT for its central role.”
