Cruinniú na nÓg Events in Ballinasloe

On Friday 22nd and Saturday 23rd June, as part of the national day of children’s creativity, Cruinniú na nÓg, Ballinasloe Library and Europe Direct information center were happy to host two interesting and unusual events for kids.

The Friday event, The Shape of Things, was presented by Branar Teatar do Pháistí and Starcatchers. Created by Marc Mac Lochlainn and Ailie Cohen, this quirky play brought children from ages 0 to 3 on a trip through a soft and tactile environment, leading them through an interactive story through puppetry, object theatre, music and sound. With two sessions over the course of the day, the event was well-attended and thoroughly enjoyed by all.

As a follow-up for a slightly older age group, science and art collided in Pendulum Fun, a fantastic workshop lead by Noel Arrigan. Featuring a wide variety of unusual pendulum style creations, Noel brought children through this unusual creative process, showing them the beautiful salt patterns that can be created using a pendulum and the Earth’s natural gravity, and letting his attendees try their hand at using a harmonograph to create their own unique design to bring home and keep. This unique workshop was a huge hit.
