Euromile Walk

8th April 2016. Euromile

Ireland’s second National Workplace Wellbeing Day took place on Friday, 8th April 2016. Public and private sector organisations across the country were encouraged to participate in the day, which aimed to improve employee health through promoting better physical activity and nutrition in the workplace. Employers were called upon to arrange a “Lunchtime Mile” – a one mile cycle, jog, run, walk or swim for employees in the vicinity of their workplace.

As part of this initiative, the Europe Direct Centre Sligo and North Connacht Youth Information Services, in a joint venture, walked a mile which commenced at 1pm from Sligo Central Library, while another member of staff completed the mile in the Canaries. The theme was Euromile. The Mayor, Thomas Healy, also participated in this event.
