Event Description

Ballinasloe Library will host an exhibition from Tuesday January 24th presented by the Institut Français and Courrier International. The exhibition, entitled “Drawing Freely” (Dessins en Liberté) is composed of 12 panels of cartoons made by almost 50 cartoonists from all around the world and will run for two weeks. Each panel is devoted to a specific topic linked to freedom of expression: censorship, internet, corruption, women’s rights, rebellions, racism… All of the drawings were published in local papers.

This exhibition has been shown in Vancouver, Kathmandu, Johannesburg, Auckland, Namibia, Cambodia and Burkina Faso to name just a few, emphasising the importance of the right to free expression in light of recent terrorist attacks against news outlets and journalists.
