Event Description

The Waterford Europe Direct Information Centre (EDIC) is delighted to announce that they will be displaying a number of scarecrows at the Central Library, Lady Lane, for the duration of the Waterford Harvest Festival which runs from 10th – 16th September this year. The scarecrows have been very kindly loaned to Waterford by the committee of the Durrow Scarecrow Festival (formerly the “Howya” Festival) which takes place in Durrow, County Laois each year in late July/early August.

Scarecrows from every part of the country are to be seen each year in Durrow and the Waterford EDIC is looking forward to putting a selection of these scarecrows on display in September. The standard of workmanship involved in making the scarecrows has to be seen to be believed and the humourous and imaginative use of current topical themes, not to mention old reliables like Snow White and Mickey Mouse, will no doubt be of interest to young and old alike. So come along to the Waterford EDIC in September if you want to see the best selection of scarecrows in one place.
