Event Description

EDIC Donegal and Gaeltacht is participating in the EDICs ‘United in Diversity’ event. This is an event for primary and pre-school children which is being organised by EDIC Lombardia in Italy.

There are 4 Donegal schools taking part with EDIC Donegal and Gaeltacht included in the project. The aim of the project is to encourage schools involved to understand better their values on diversity and discover, at the same time the values of others; to strengthen the concept of European citizenship through learning languages, geography, history and culture of other european countries; and to work in partnership with other schools across the European Union in the future, maintaining contact with their exchange partners.

Using the same successful formula as the Christmas Tree exchange project, schools and EDICs are divided into groups. Each school makes drawings & paintings of their area and country & posts these to schools and EDICs in their groups. EDIC Donegal and Gaeltacht and schools in Donegal are now receiving their parcels from all around Europe. EDIC has received parcels from Athens, Crete & Lesvos in Greece as well as Romania and France.
