Event Description

50 people attended this very successful EURES Jobs Day in Europe Direct Letterkenny, Central Library, Oliver Plunkett Road, Letterkenny on Monday 25th April from 12.30pm to 2.45pm.

This information morning was aimed at job seekers and senior second level students.

The events kicked off at 10.30 with an introduction and presentation on EDICs in general & EDIC Donegal & Gaeltacht in particular by EDIC manager H McNutt. This was followed by A very informative talk by Jasmina Behan from Skills Ireland. Jasmina explained how statistics are used to inform employment policy and she highlighted careers which would be offering employment at present and in the future. This was very useful for the adult audience and useful also for students who were there to help them choose which areas of study are likely to provide jobs in future.

Lee Downey from EURES then spoke about EURES and job opportunities throughout Europe. Lee highlighted EU initiatives such as ‘Your European Job’ and how much support is available for those travelling to another member state for employment.

The morning was rounded off by a very practical talk on CV preparation by Mary Higgins from Donegal Local Development Company’s Regional Employment Service. Mary spoke about how to prepare the perfect CV, what to avoid & how to create the most positive impression which will maximise an applicant chances of being called for interview. Questions were asked and information leaflets and hand outs distributed.

This was a very informative and successful event with lots of positive feedback from audience and presenters.
