Details 
Europe on Air Near Fm’s new live weekly program examines the impact the EU can have on the lives of the Irish and European identity. The Europe Direct Centre Blanchardstown were delighted to collaborate with Near 90.3FM on this valuable project.
Part six of the series airs on April 10th 2014 and will be looking at EU Citizenship and how being a member of the EU impacts on our daily lives. IT will take place on Thursday 10th of April 2014 at 4.30-5pm

Special guests include James Kilcourse, The Institute of International & European Affairs -  UK, Wider Europe and US researcher: Nikita Evans and Temi Liadi, Foróige youth project on EU Citizenship who are currently engaged in producing a video on ” The life of a Young European Citizen” and Susan Lovatt, Manager, EU Direct Blanchardstown

Ciaran Murray, Project Coordinator, NEAR Media Cooperation will be Chairing the Discussion

Discussions will involve the following: 

  • What is European Citizenship? – including the rights and benefits that it brings
  • Consular protection when travelling abroad
  • Voting Rights as an EU Citizen
  • What does the EU have to offer in the current global environment?  e.g. human rights, democracy, economy, society, etc.
  • EU Direct and what it does
  • Expansion of the EU

Europe on Air was launched by Paschal Donohoe, TD and Minister for European Affairs as part of Craol’s media literacy conference on Saturday March 29th2014.

This radio series will also be broadcast on 15 community radio stations throughout Ireland. Further information on other stations can be obtained from the Craol website: www.craol.ie.
