Event Description

An exhibition on the PDO scheme will take place at ED Ballinasloe during the month of August.

PDO or the Protected Designation of Origin is a scheme which officially guarantees the origin and quality of food  products with a history and tradition behind them.

PDO was created by the European Union to help consumers by informing them about the specific features of these products and in doing so,to protect them  against imitations throughout the whole of the EU.

Examples are: Port and Douro wines,Parma Ham,Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese,Jersey Royal Potatoes,Cornish Clotted Cream,Shetland Lamb and many more.
