Event Description

Ballinasloe EDIC in association with the Fit Towns Ballinasloe 2017 team are running a design competition confined to local second level schools, Ard Scoil Mhuire and St. Joseph’s College, Garbally.

Ballinasloe has once again entered the race to compete for the title of Galway’s Fittest Town in 2017.  The competition is an initiative of Galway Sports Partnership with the objective of encouraging and supporting people from all areas of our community to get out and #BeActive!  The Fit Town Team have worked in partnership with a number of groups, clubs, organisations and schools throughout the community to schedule a variety of programmes and events over the 6 week period – details are available online here and also in the current edition of Ballinasloe Life.
Magazine.

To complement this project, Europe Direct Ballinasloe Library is collaborating with the Fit Town Team and the two Post Primary Schools in the town to launch an ‘Exploring Ballinasloe’ competition.  The competition is project based (max 4 people) and the challenge is to design a poster which will promote Ballinasloe as a destination that appeals to people who enjoy outdoor pursuits including walking, running, cycling, water sports, horse-riding and golf  – for walking, running, cycling we encourage you where possible, to include references to the local routes and landscape.

The competition is confined to students of both second level school in Ballinasloe, St. Joseph’s College Garbally and Ardscoil Mhuire.

We encourage teams to look at all visual, audio and technological aids which would enhance the project including art; photography; infographics; maps; and, if considering an interactive poster, video; audio; music soundtracks.  So it doesn’t have to be a poster!
