This Thursday 10th April The Tubbercurry Europe Direct Information Centre and the Sligo Institute of Technology’s are hosting a public lecture The European Parliament Elections 2014 – Why bother?

The format of this lecture will be a panel discussion on Thursday 10th April at 11:30 am -13.00 pm in IT Sligo (Room A0006 which is located in the main building opposite the basement entrance to the Yeats Library)

Dr John Pender, Senior Lecturer in Social Policy and Politics Department of Social Sciences Institute of Technology
Chair: Daniel Browne – Ocean FM

The aim of this event is to raise awareness of the upcoming European Parliament elections and will also feature Europe Direct and SOLVIT information stands from 11am to 2pm. The Europe Direct stand will provide advice and information on how to register to vote, eligibility, etc.

What is SOLVIT? Unfair rules or decisions and discriminatory red tape can make it hard for you to live, work or do business in another EU country. So, if you as an EU citizen or business face extra obstacles in another country because a public authority isn’t doing what is required under EU law… SOLVIT can help.
Light refreshments and sandwiches served. Best question on the day will also win a tablet and there are 4 book tokens to be given as audience prizes.
