Event Description

The Ballinasloe Strings Festival is a two day event happening on July 13 and 14, celebrating the magic of stringed instruments, music and musicians. This year’s line-up features an eclectic range of performers celebrating an array of musical genres and instruments all following the “strings” theme. Residents of and visitors to the town are in for a treat with free events popping up from 2pm on Friday and running right through until 9pm on Saturday evening.

Headline performers this year include the internationally-renowned guitarist John Feeley and young German guitarist Daniel Marx, The Lifebouys – a vibrant 3 piece roots band, ConTempo and Floriane Blancke with Brendan O’Regan. A number of new, less formal elements have been introduced to the programme for 2018, with drop-in fireside jazz and trad sessions. Also, the Festival is delighted to announce their inaugural children’s event with a musically themed workshop by Anna and Donal from the inspirational Galway band My Fellow Sponges. The Festival is supported by Galway County Council, Creative Ireland and Europe Direct as part of the European Year of Cultural Heritage. Refreshments will be served to support Galway, West of Ireland Region of Gastronomy 2018.

All events are free, but require tickets unless otherwise indicated online. For more information visit stringsfestival.ie or phone 090 964 3464.
