Event Description

The town of Mountmellick are delighted to host the William Edmundson Homecoming festival. More than 350 years since their ancestors founded Mountmellick, Quaker families from around the world are returning for a homecoming festival. Organised by Mountmellick Heritage Society to commemorate the founding of Mountmellick town in 1675 by the Quaker William Edmundson, the homecoming festival is a celebration and examination of Mountmellick’s rich and unique heritage which will be examined through exhibitions, lectures, tours, music, theatre, storytelling, art and craft.

Mountmellick Library and Mountmellick Europe Direct have gotten involved hosting a number of lectures at the library. The first of these lectures is held by Glynn Douglas of the Society of Friends in Ireland who will be examining the ‘Friends and 1798.’
