Event Description

Week 6 in a 6 week series of workshops to examine the history of France within the EU, began with the earliest days of the EU with Jean Monnet, the inspiration behind the ‘Schuman Plan’ and Robert Schuman one of the founding fathers of EU unity who published the internationally known ‘Schuman Plan’ on 9 May 1950, celebrated today as the birthdate of the European Union. The workshop highlighted the main treaties and events to date.
In addition the workshop looked at French language, food and culture to bring local Donegal people a little closer to their EU neighbours in France. The workshops are all facilitated by EDIC manager in partnership with Francophile and language teacher Dolores Frances. The work shops run for 2 hours each week with a break for Halloween.
15 people signed up for the course of workshops, some had to be put on a reserve list.
11 attended sixth workshop.
As participants expressed an interest in more workshops it was decided to extend these into the month of December
