Ireland to get two more MEPs following Brexit

Ireland is to get two extra seats in the European Parliament following Brexit bringing our total number of MEPs to 13. The European Council agreed last week to re-allocate 27 of the 73 seats that will be vacated on the UK’s exit from the European Union. They will be distributed as follows: France (+5), Spain (+5), Italy (+3), Netherlands (+3), Ireland (+2), Sweden (+1), Austria (+1), Denmark (+1), Finland (+1), Slovakia (+1), Croatia (+1), Estonia (+1), Poland (+1) and Romania (+1). No member state will lose any seats.
